Honorary degree in Vehicle Engineering to the father of “Gran Turismo” videogame

On the 17th of October the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia awarded a honorary degree in Vehicle Engineering to Kaazunori Yamauchi, creator and producer of the video game series “Gran Turismo”.

This award was spearheaded by the Engineering Department “Enzo Ferrari” as part of the activities of the recently founded Automotive Academy Unimore. The decision was approved by the Minister of Education Valeria Fedeli.

Yamauchi is president of Polyphony Digital Inc., senior vice president of Sony Interactive Entertainment and executive vice president of World Wide Studios. After creating in 1994 his first videogame Motor Toon Grand Prix, he reached worldwide success with the Gran Turismo series. He has worked with leading automotive manufacturers, and as professional pilot (he also participated at the 24th of the Nürburgring) he has sponsored several races.
