Prime Minister Gentiloni meets MASA delegation

The Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni will be in Modena today, 19th of January, for simbolically start of one of the first planned interventions of the "Progetto Periferie". This is the urban redevelopment and security program in the northern area of the Modena, which obtained government funding of 18 million euros provided from the call for urban redevelopment.

The meeting with the Prime Minister, is open to the public: it is scheduled at the Pala Madiba in via Canaletto 110-b. Mayor Gian Carlo Muzzarelli and representatives of the institutional partners of the suburbs project will participate. Among these guests, will be there also Modena Automotive Smart Area delegates, in order to present MASA project and its progresses.

MASA is an experimental project started by a public-private partnership, aiming at the development of smart mobility and autonomous driving. This partnership was born in Modena, in the heart of the Motor Valley, where automotive tradition merges with innovation,  digital culture and ICT.

MASA is a collaboration between the Municipality of Modena and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia with Maserati S.p.a., first signatory company, and with thecollaboration of the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport and with thesupport from the Emilia-Romagna Region. The research and testing activities concern interactions between vehicles (PROTOCOL V2V), interactions between vehicle and obstacle in movement (PROTOCOL V2X), the interaction between vehicle and city (PROTOCOL V2I). A model-area for testing all the developed technologies will be implemented in the Modena northern suburbs.

Accordin the report drawn up by the National Technical Committee B.1 established within the AIPCR (World Road Association), MASA is a unique urban areas case study.
